- Affinity Flame
- One of eleven foundational Flames once housed within the First Forge.
- Affinity Wake
- A lingering trail of affinity resonance left when an Affinity Flame passes through or profoundly affects a location.
- Age of Echoes
- The present era.
- Ancient Master Forgers
- An order of Forgers who discovered the eleven Affinity Flames during their Golden Age and created the living First Forge as a sanctuary in which the Flames could exist in balance. Their exact number is unknown, and Forgemaster Prime is their last remaining member.
- Bearer
- A member of the Shattered Crown who accepts responsibility for finding, protecting, and determining the proper guardian of an Affinity Flame. The title does not mean the member currently possesses a Flame.
- Concordance
- A state in which multiple Master Forgers align their intentions while balancing living Forge power. Concordance is required to kindle a living Forge safely without subjecting it to one individual's will.
- Crown Assembly
- The collective gathering of representatives from the Shattered Crown's eleven Points. It compares discoveries, recognizes claims, and coordinates searches without appointing a single supreme leader.
- Emberbound
- An independent order seeking to reunite the Affinity Flames and restore the First Forge.
- First Circle
- The independent Forgers who founded the Emberbound after comparing the Affinity Wakes they had separately discovered.
- First Forge
- The living Forge created by the ancient Master Forgers to house and unite the eleven Affinity Flames.
- Firstborn
- The original Forgekin formed from a forgeprint before the Shattering. Later Forge Echoes may share its pattern, but each is an independent individual.
- Flamekeeper
- A Master Forger discipline responsible for maintaining balance among all eleven Affinity Flames. Flamekeepers did not own individual Flames.
- Forge Echo
- An independent Forgekin formed from a scattered fragment of a Firstborn's forgeprint after the Shattering.
- Forge Ember
- A finite remnant of the First Forge's creative power. Part of an Ember is consumed whenever it is used.
- Forgeplate
- A prepared metal tablet maintained by an Emberbound Hearth. Heat-written messages bearing Forgemaster Prime's resonance sometimes appear upon its surface through an unknown method.
- Forgeprint
- The living pattern from which a Forgekin is formed. After the Shattering, scattered fragments of a Firstborn's forgeprint could produce independent Forge Echoes.
- Golden Age of Forgers
- The height of the Ancient Master Forger order, when the eleven Affinity Flames had been discovered, the First Forge was created, and living Forge power could be studied and shaped in balance.
- Hearth
- A regional Emberbound group responsible for tracking local affinity activity, protecting significant locations, and preserving discoveries.
- Master Forger
- A Forger recognized through mastery of living Forge power, restraint, bonds with multiple Forgekin, and the ability to enter Concordance. The title cannot be granted through appointment alone.
- Resonance Mark
- A temporary pattern revealed within a bonded Forgekin's forgeprint when it responds to an Affinity Wake beside a compatible Forger.
- Shattered Crown
- A decentralized alliance that believes the eleven Affinity Flames should remain separate and be protected by worthy regions, communities, or guardians rather than returned to one Forge.
- The Shattering
- The catastrophic explosion caused when an unseen force attacked the First Forge. The blast scattered its Affinity Flames, Forge Embers, and forgeprint fragments while briefly fracturing the boundaries between realms.
- Trials of Temper
- The Emberbound initiation trials used to evaluate a candidate's judgment, restraint, loyalty, and bond with their Forgekin.
