LORE

Kettlepuffs collect fresh water from the warm springs bordering Mirrorwater Basin. Once filled, their rounded bodies heat the water until steam escapes through their spouts in a cheerful whistle. They often gather near Emberbound camps, where they provide hot water, announce approaching visitors, and become extremely irritated when mistaken for ordinary cookware. A Kettlepuff’s warning whistle rises sharply before it releases a Scalding Spout capable of startling and disorienting much larger Forgekin. Basin keepers judge a Kettlepuff’s mood by the sound of its boil. A low murmur means contentment. A quick rattle means impatience. Complete silence means someone has placed it over a fire without asking.
