Mopmires inhabit the shallower waterways along Blightfen’s border, absorbing stagnant water and dragging their fibrous bodies through mud choked with rot. Their passing leaves narrow trails of clearer water behind them, making their territories unexpectedly safer for other Forgekin. This useful behavior has led some settlements to introduce Mopmires into polluted canals. Results have been inconsistent. Although they remove grime enthusiastically, they also retain much of it within their bodies. A startled Mopmire responds with a Muddy Sweep, flinging the collected filth at anything nearby and leaving the target weakened beneath several layers of questionable sludge. Workers are advised to approach slowly and never interrupt one halfway through cleaning. The canal may be cleaner afterward. The worker usually is not.
