LORE

Slanterns were originally warding relics placed along the ancient roads leading to the First Forge. Each lantern housed a watchful Fire spirit whose Guiding Glow shielded travelers from the dangers beyond the firelight. When the Shattering destroyed those roads, fragments of their forgeprints awakened in abandoned lanterns throughout the world. A Slantern now drifts silently through ruins and dangerous passes, illuminating safe paths for allied Forgekin while marking hostile beings with its Warden Flame. Those touched by the pale fire are not burned; instead, their forgeprints weaken as the flame exposes every fracture and vulnerability within them. Slantern asks for neither thanks nor companionship. It watches so others do not have to.
