No one has determined whether the steaming disc upon Crustacean’s back is part of its shell, something it carries, or an entirely separate organism. Every recorded specimen bears the same unusual arrangement: a perfectly baked crust, molten cheese, and a scattering of unfamiliar toppings. The surface remains freshly cooked regardless of weather, immersion, or the length of observation. Attempts to remove a portion have produced inconsistent results. Some researchers report that the missing piece regrew overnight. Others insist the entire “pizza” vanished, along with the Crustacean, when no one was watching. More troubling is the heat beneath its shell. When threatened, Crustacean releases a violent burst of burning cheese and scalding oil known as Cheese Eruption. Those struck by it strongly advise against tasting the remnants. Whether Crustacean was an accident of the Shattering, the creation of an eccentric Forge Leader, or something pulled through a fracture from another world remains unknown. One question appears repeatedly in every surviving report: If the meal is growing upon the crab, what was it originally meant to feed?
