LORE

**Gloamwood - The Lone Hammer’s Workshop** *Excerpt from an Emberbound field report, 3rd Cycle* The workshop stands alone beneath Gloamwood’s perpetual dim canopy, its thatch a dark blot against the thick, whispering foliage. Light filters only in thin shafts, casting long, trembling shadows across the workbench littered with rusted tools, splintered wood, and bundles of bristled twine. It was here that the forgeprint, scattered after the Shattering, lingered long enough to coalesce around a forgotten wooden handle and the tangled bristles left by a wandering tinkerer. When the tinkerer returned after a storm, he found the handle trembling, a faint pulse humming through the bristles. The forgekin that rose-later named **Bristlewhip**-snapped the tinkerer’s paintbrush from his hand and, with a flick of its newly‑formed tail, splashed vivid streaks across the workshop walls. The markings lingered like fresh scars on stone, some bright and playful, others tinged with a sharp, stinging sting that left the observer’s skin pricked for hours. The tinkerer came to understand that he had not created Bristlewhip. Something living had awakened among the things he had left behind. Trust grew slowly, through shared evenings, ruined paintbrushes, and the discovery that Bristlewhip would curl beside his tools whenever the workshop fell quiet. When he finally offered a copper Kinprint, Bristlewhip pressed its bristles against the metal, willingly imparting a trace of its essence and sealing their Accord. Choosing to remain beside him, staying Kindled became its preferred way of life. The walls grew brighter, the workbench grew messier, and the lone workshop was never quite lonely again.
