*A child’s letter home from an Emberbound sanctuary in the Glacial Tundra* Dear Mum, Today we visited the Cubzero enclosure. The keeper asked us to stay behind the low wall, which seemed unfair because the Cubzero did not have to stay on their side. One climbed over and sat on my boot. He had little ice crystals growing along his back and snow stuck to his nose. I thought he wanted help getting down, but when the keeper lifted him, he held on to my laces. Apparently they like finding things to wrestle with, and my foot counted. There were bigger bears beyond the enclosure, too. I learned that girl Cubzero grow into Tundrapaw, then Matriartic. Boys become Rimeclaw, then Frostbringer. I asked how she knew which mine would become. She gently reminded me that sitting on my boot did not make him mine, but she showed me how to tell anyway. Before we left, he followed me along the wall and made a small grumbling noise. I waved, and he put his paw where my hand had been. It left a frosty patch on the stone. Can we visit again before we go home? I think he’ll remember my laces.
